With the stay at home order extended until May 8, the clinic will remain closed for office visits. During this time we are offering support to our families by providing phone consults and telehealth visits for consultation and assistance. If you are interested in a phone consult or telehealth visit please email the office to ensure scheduling with your provider at ctoa@childtx.com.

We hope all of our families are well and staying safe!

With the recent CDC guidelines to avoid gatherings of more than 10 people, we feel that it is prudent for CTOA to pause all sessions until March 30th. We will reassess at that time to determine if continuation of the pause is necessary. During this time we will remain available by email to answer any urgent questions. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to keep your family safe and healthy!

We are writing to update you regarding our practice’s approach in response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.

Our local, national, and world leaders agree that COVID-19 is a cause for concern in our communities due to its global health risk. Because the virus has already made it to the US, the next steps that we are advised to take is to decrease the overall number of transmissions between people. The World Health Orgainzation (WHO) Director-General Ghebreyesus said, “All countries can still change the course of this pandemic. If countries detect, test, treat, isolate, trace, and mobilize their people in response.” In addition to canceling SXSW, Austin community leaders are restricting public gatherings of 250+ to reduce likelihood of spread through contact.

What are we doing at Children’s Therapeutics of Austin (CTOA) to protect you? First, to reduce the chances of our practice spreading the virus, we increased the intensity of our existing disinfection processes. In addition to cleaning every treatment room and area before each patient visit, we are disinfecting every contact surface hourly throughout the day.  Secondly, we are training our personnel in methods to reduce spread such as avoiding close contact, frequent and thorough hand washing, before and during patient visits, and sneezing both into the sleeves or disposable tissues, available throughout the clinic. Thirdly, our practice management is carefully screening our personnel, and will ask that those who are feeling ill to remain home until resolution. Finally, to keep within the guidelines of minimizing social contact, we will ask that you call the office (512-533-9313) and we will meet you at your car to transport your child into the clinic to avoid waiting room congestion.  We will then transport your child back to you post treatment. We will also be changing some treatment methodologies to minimize social contact, as much as possible.

If you have an upcoming appointment and are feeling ill or have returned from a high risk area, and/or traveled by air in the previous four weeks please call us to let us know and we will help you determine your risk and/or reschedule your appointment.

Our practice is confident that we are taking the necessary steps to protect our patients and personnel from contracting the virus in our clinic. Our clinic will continue to closely watch WHO, CDC, and the Texas Department of State Health Services for news surrounding the outbreak, and if there are changes in the necessary community or practice protocols we will keep you updated. We look forward to seeing you at your next appointment.
